The Summit Adventure
Wofford College’s Summit Adventure offers students a way to make the transition
to college more enjoyable and valuable, as well as giving them an introduction to
the campus, Spartanburg and the foothills area of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains.
The Summit Adventure is an incredible experience in which students can
participate in activities ranging from exploring social justice issues to white
water paddling.
FYI Orientation 2008 begins Tuesday, August 26th on campus. The next day new students,
upperclassmen, faculty and staff will travel to Camp Greystone
in Tuxedo, North Carolina where everyone will enjoy a full day of in-camp activities
followed by dinner and an evening social.
On Thursday of the Summit Adventure, students will participate in a specific
adventure activity of their choosing. Each Adventure has been uniquely designed
for new students, and it will be directed by a full-time faculty or staff member.
Wofford staff members have created opportunities for students to explore Spartanburg,
create a theater production, enjoy white water rafting, test survival skills or
focus and reflect on bigger issues that affect our community you will soon call
home. First year students involved with fall athletics will have a individualized
Adventure designed with you in mind – The Competitive Edge.
Please read the descriptions posted on the FYI website, decide which one you would
like to participate in and register online by August 4th. So that a quality experience
can be enjoyed by all, there will be a maximum number of participants in each Adventure,
and for some of the experiences there may be a fee to be a participant.
Once you have registered for a Summit Adventure, you will be contacted through your Wofford
College email by the facilitator with more information about what you need to bring,
instructions, and the details about payment if applicable.
